Tifa Lockhart is one of the chief characters of Final Fantasy VII. She was designed by Tetsuya Nomura. She is an adept in Zangan-Ryu martial arts and uses her fists and feet as her weapons. As the group infiltrates the build up, they are caught by the Turks and brought before President Shinra, who orders for them to be imprisoned in cells. Tifa is locked in a cell with Cloud. The following day, Cloud and Tifa find that the door to their cell has been cryptically opened and a trail of lineage on the floor. Cloud and Tifa free the early characters, and the group follows the trail of blood, which leads upstairs to a dead President Shinra impaled by a Masamune. Tifa recognizes the Masamune, and Cloud identifies it as being Sephiroth ‘s. The party proceeds to make their evasion from Shinra Building, and they travel down the Midgar Highway to escape from Midgar. At Kalm, the party stays at an hostel. Cloud tells Tifa and the others of his past experiences with Sephiroth, during which a flashback sequence is shown. In it, Tifa is foremost mentioned by her father, who tells Cloud to stay away from her because they do not need Shinra ‘s aid to protect Nibelheim. They finally find Cloud in Mideel, where he is suffering from mako poisoning. Tifa chooses to stay with Cloud while the early party members search for the Huge Materia. Later, Mideel is attacked by Diamond WEAPON, and the others begin to flee. Tifa pushes Cloud, who is bound to a wheelchair, out of the clinic. The Lifestream bursts through the earth, and both Tifa and Cloud fall into into the Lifestream .
